Who is Robert L. Vaessen?

I'm Robert; the author and creator of these web pages (and some other websites). Most of the content you'll find here (text, images, photos, and articles on my website (with noted exceptions)) was created by me. I started writing these web pages in September of 1996 (earlier if you count AOL keyword profile pages/yes they had user generated content at one time), and I haven't given up on these pages yet (although I've fallen behind on my regular update schedule).

Once upon a time, I relied on AOL, GeoCities and then Yahoo to host my material. Eventually I realized that they couldn't be trusted or relied on. They were constantly imposing ridiculous requirements and disappointing me in their technical management. I moved to alternate hosting methods/providers in the early 2000s, and like others, I've had to migrate from one service to another for various reasons. Today, my website contains my personal views, hobbies, rants, raves, movie reviews, gaming info, community involvement, some photos, and an assortment of other odds and ends. It's my blog, my personal website. It's not work related, political, religious or designed to advocate any particular life style. I don't accept advertisements or paid endorsements of any kind. I don't participate in any 'link sharing' or 'affiliate' programs, I don't make use of cookies, and I'm not interested in any SEO secrets (see my Privacy Policy).

As Lloyd Dobler said in the movie 'Say Anything': "I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought or processed."

While there aren't a lot of Vaessens in America, I'm one of them - I hail from the state of Wisconsin in the USA, but haven't lived there since 1984. This page used to contain a 'plethora' of biographical information about me; where and when I was born, where I went to school, my military service, where I've lived, etc. Unfortunately, to protect myself, my finances, my job and my family, I've had to remove a lot of personal information from my web pages. One should never put too much personal information online. The results could be detrimental - regardless of the intent.

I designed the website to please me, and provide some information to my friends and family. If you find it amusing, entertaining, informative or amazing, then I've accomplished my goals. If you hate it... Oh well! you're free to leave anytime you'd like - If you'd like to contact me, please use the eMail link below, or reference my 'Feedback' page:
